- The world is composed of visuals (1-5)
- How one’s knowledge of history improves their concept of art. “When we ‘see’ a landscape, we situate ourselves in it. If we ‘saw’ the art of the past, we would situate ourselves in history.”
- The social urgencies that art reflects.
- How the reproduction of a piece changes it’s meaning (18-19).
- The affect of a work’s market value on the piece itself (23, 25, 26, 28, 29, 88 [at “hack work”]).
- Sidenote: I just realized that throughout pages 29-33 the means of production are mentioned in a negative light and much like they are mentioned later in the book. This makes me think the Capitalism’s and the means of production’s affect on art is a major theme here. (86 [mention of the ruling class], )
- The different ways in which the presence of a man and woman affect a work of art (45, 46)
- The oil painting and all the comes with it (84+).
- Publicity (the last section).
